Youtuber Oscar Alejandro Pérez arrested in Venezuela

Oscar Alejandro Pérez Martínez, renowned Venezuelan YouTuber, was arrested in his country accused of carrying out “activities linked to terrorism”, his arrest occurred at the Maiquetía National Airport, in the north of the country, where I would take a plane to Canaima, region in the southeast adjacent to Guyana.

Pérez Martínez’s family reported that he was taken to the facilities of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (CICPC) in the antiterrorism division.

“Oscar is recognized for his work as a YouTuber in the promotion of Venezuelan culture and now faces this legal process. We manifest our hope that the judicial process, which will begin on April 1, clarify the details of the situation and ensure fair treatment”, explained his family.

Speculations of his followers

When the news was announced, social media users speculated that the content creator’s arrest was for recording aspects that showed the reality of President Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

“It is a completely illegal and arbitrary detention. Evidently This is an absurd accusation.”says one of them.

They also referred to a recent video in which he was in the Chacaíto Shopping Center, one of the oldest in Caracas, in which he said: “That building behind the center is the Credicard Tower. There are the Venezuelan credit card servers. “If they dropped a bomb on it, the whole system would collapse.”

Oscar Alejandro has 1.8 million subscribers. In addition to creating content for different platforms, he worked as a journalist, host and radio host.

He was born on October 14, 1986 in Valencia, Venezuela. He currently resides in Miami, United States. Much of its content is linked to trips to different parts of the world. It usually shows the realities of other countries as well as particular points in each city that may interest tourists, reported La Nación.
