Since 2021, Sparkasse Eferding-Peuerbach-Waizenkirchen has been supporting projects by people from the region for people in the region. The regional bank provides five percent of the profit annually for this purpose. This year, a record sum of 410,000 euros will be used to support 35 projects from clubs, communities, schools and private individuals in the districts of Eferding, Grieskirchen and Schärding. The choice from 89 submissions was once once more made by an independent five-person jury consisting of Ferdinand Karer (former director of the Dachsberg high school), Helmut Fallmann (CEO Fabasoft), Elisabeth Vogl (GF Schauer Agrotronic), Matthias Mittermaier (direct marketer) and Sandra Emprechtinger (house manager Caritas St . Pius).
The Union Riding and Driving Club Eferding, which has 90 members, receives the largest sum. A new stable with 20 horse boxes is supported with 70,000 euros, as the existing stable has to be rebuilt due to flood protection.
The Engelhartszell volunteer fire department will receive 30,000 euros to purchase an emergency generator, and the Haizing fire department in Hartkirchen will receive 25,000 euros for special equipment to fight forest fires. 25,000 euros will also go to the Peuerbach Music Association to purchase new musical instruments for young musicians. The Union Stroheim receives 20,000 euros for a children’s playground. The St. Pius Institute receives 16,770 euros to purchase a mobile sales hut. The organization “Rat auf Draht” in Eferding, which advises parents, can expand its advisory services with 15,000 euros.
“We are pleased regarding the huge interest in this charitable campaign,” says Michaela Schwinghammer-Hausleithner, chairwoman of the Sparkasse Eferding-Peuerbach-Waizenkirchen, which has existed for 160 years.
