IN 2015, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) launched the PNM Mekaar product (Fostering a Prosperous Family Economy) which provides special services for underprivileged women who are ultra-micro entrepreneurs, whether they want to start a business or develop a product business. Basically, PNM Mekaar customers are assisted to have knowledge and skills in business, apart from capital financing, PNM Mekaar also provides various literacy programs regarding various financial products, and training in order to provide empowerment to women who are ultra-micro entrepreneurs.
PNM continues to accompany all women who are ultra-micro entrepreneurs, and now as of December 2023, PNM Mekaar’s active customers have reached 15.1 million customers. This figure grew 9.42% year on year when compared to December 2022. In terms of total financing distribution, PNM has distributed IDR 71.2 trillion as of December 31 2023. The number of service offices in that period was recorded at 4,552 offices with funding coverage areas of 35 provinces, 435 districts/cities and 6,165 sub-districts.
PNM joins the Ultra Micro Holding Synergy (UMi) with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk. (Persero) and PT Pegadaian have also encouraged up to 1.2 million customers to upgrade. Apart from that, 15.4 million PNM Mekaar customers also have Simpedes Bank BRI accounts. This figure is an accumulation of customers who are still active and have upgraded from 2021 to February 2024.
Through a written statement, the President Director of PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), Arief Mulyadi, revealed that from January to February 2024, PNM recorded that it had distributed financing amounting to IDR 12.5 trillion. PNM has also made a number of adjustments and changes, both from business processes, empowerment, to assistance to achieve the fund distribution target of IDR 75 trillion in 2024.
In terms of expansion, Arief said that his party is exploring embracing young customers by taking advantage of the existence of the younger generation. With different geographies and demographics, there is an ecosystem of young people who can accompany Mekaar customers. PNM is a financing and assistance institution for underprivileged women in Indonesia through the ultra-micro business sector. PNM Mekaar’s top customers also continue to be provided with facilities such as additional programs from PNM through the Business Capacity Development (PKU) program to be able to improve their business skills. During December 2023, PNM has provided 16,839 trainings and involved 947,317 customers as participants, in addition to regular meetings of 830,810 customer groups both weekly and bi-weekly.
