MINISTER of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, inspected readiness for returning home to the Central Java area at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Wednesday (3/4) .

In this monitoring, the Minister of Transportation appealed to the public to seek the latest information and comply with regulations regarding traffic engineering regulations in Central Java.

“I ask the public to monitor information from the National Police Chief through Kakorlantas regarding traffic engineering on one-way toll roads and main roads. For example, when one way from Jakarta, drivers from Central Java must take arterial roads, so they are ready to do that,” explained Budi.

He reminded travelers to choose buses that have been ramp checked and drivers who have been given a permit, especially if using a tourist bus. All parties who violate will be dealt with firmly and will not be allowed to continue their journey.

“Regarding tourist attractions, the Regional Police have made preparations, but travelers still have to choose buses that have been ramp checked and drivers who have been given permits. Because if they continue to use buses that have not been ramp checked, the Regional Police will order a U-turn and must not continue the journey,” said Budi.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, revealed that Central Java is the area that is the focus for homecoming on the island of Java. Therefore, handling homecoming and returning flows in this area is very important in order to maintain the overall smoothness of the homecoming flow via land on the island of Java.

“After leaving Jakarta, in Central Java there is a distribution of homecoming trips. Some go to the South and some go to East Java. So, if it is handled well, around 50% of homecoming matters in Java will have been resolved,” said Muhadjir.

Regarding traffic engineering, Listyo said that there would be additional toll exit gates, additional toll officers and toll card readers to speed up the toll payment process.

“We also urge people who are going home not to force themselves. Rest areas are provided to rest for a while. Also, exit routes have been prepared that lead to arterial routes with lots of places to rest. Avoid resting on the shoulder of the road because it is dangerous,” said the National Police Chief.

Support for homecoming security also comes from the TNI. Agus said that as many as 4,200 personnel had been prepared to assist the National Police regarding securing homecoming traffic. The TNI also prepares land, sea and air transportation equipment if needed. (Ministry of Transportation/Z-6)
