Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini designated president with 147 votes out of 173. «Competitiveness, energy and legal certainty are priorities»

The Emilian entrepreneur Emanuele Orsini has been designated president of Confindustria for the next term, 2024-2028. At the vote of the general council, today in via dell’Astronomia, he was the only candidate following the step backwards yesterday by the president of Erg Edoardo Garrone. The election will then take place on May 23rd in a private assembly. Orsini, outgoing Vice President of Confindustria for Credit, Finance and Taxation, obtained 147 votes out of 173 present, 187 those entitled to vote, 17 invalid ballots, 9 blank ballots. The President-designate of the industrialists will present his team and the program for the 2024-2028 mandate on April 18th. Born in 1973, Orsini is the managing director of Sistem Costruzioni Srl, and of Tino Prosciutti SpA. He is also president of Maranello Residence Srl and managing director of Sistem Cubiertas Iberica Sl and director of Afi – Italian Forestry Association.

Orsini’s words following the nomination: «I will try to convince the 26 who didn’t vote for me»

Orsini, as has transpired, following the designation addressed the small parliament of industrialists, underlining the objective of “unity”, the importance of a step that erases divisions, which now allows us to “look at the country’s Italian industry all together », and the need, which emerged in this electoral phase, «to change the rules» for the elections. We look to April 18, when Orsini will present his team, as “a great moment”, also for “a clean sweep of divisions” by focusing on the “right entrepreneurs” for the vice-presidents’ team, who “represent everyone”. “I will try to convince the 26 who didn’t vote for me,” said the president-designate. «Today we managed, following a very complicated and difficult electoral campaign, to regroup Confindustria as it should be because Confindustria must look forward, it must look at the country’s Italian industry», added Orsini. «We have built a program which obviously for different chapters will follow one another with the vice-presidencies that we will form between now and April 18th. In short, we have to work, so they will be complicated, intense moments, but we will do the best for our businesses, for our companies, because this is what we have to do”, continued the president-designate.

As regards the dossiers that will be in the foreground with the new presidency, Orsini explained that «the theme of competitiveness will be a key theme on the European theme, the theme of energy will be a key theme and another key theme that we have put legal certainty is certainly at the heart of our program. We need businesses and institutions to be ever closer to make our businesses grow.”

«An act of great responsibility from Garrone»

A passage of the speech was on Garrone’s decision to withdraw from the race for the leadership of Confindustria. «I believe – added Orsini – that yesterday Edoardo carried out an act of great responsibility and put us in the position of having even more responsibility. The step back from Edoardo, a person I respect and respect very much, with whom we had discussions both yesterday and today, Orsini continued, has put me in a position to be able to choose the team with total responsibility to do something even simpler, putting the chapters at the center to be able to place the best people alongside the chapters that we are going to build. It is the only way to ensure that the new presidency’s team is strong”.

«We will dialogue with Gozzi and Garrone, we will not leave anyone behind»

«Rather than talking regarding names we must talk today regarding which chapters to put at the center – underlined the president-designate of Confindustria -. Today I told my colleagues that before putting names we must start from the chapters and at that point we will be able to put the best names. Antonio Gozzi is a person I respect a lot, he has done a lot for the system, he has a key role in the world of Federacciai and the new green deal, he will be a person with whom we will necessarily dialogue as well as with Edoardo and with all those who campaigned electoral and which will be added value. Everyone represented businesses, territories and companies and we must not leave anyone behind, this will be our key for the next 4 years.”
