2-year-old missing girl from Serbia found dead

In the missing case involving a little girl in Serbia, two people arrested are said to have confessed to killing the toddler. The suspects caught by the police now want to lead investigators to the one-year-old’s body, Serbian online media and the bilingual news portal “Kosmo” from Vienna reported on Thursday. The Vienna police had previously confirmed that a girl filmed in Vienna on Holy Saturday was not the person they were looking for.

Police in Serbia have arrested two men who killed the girl and confessed to the crime, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said, according to media reports. Previously, traces of blood were found on a car during a forensic examination and the two people were arrested on this basis.

Employee of a water supply company

According to media reports, the suspects are two employees of a public water supply company from the city of Bor. They transported the girl’s body in the trunk of their company car and dumped it in an illegal landfill, the Serbian online portal “Blic” said. What happened was unbelievable, it was unbelievable what kind of monsters there were, said Serbian President Vučić.

The toddler disappeared from the garden of his parents’ weekend house in an unobserved moment a week ago in the town of Banjsko Polje near the town of Bor, local media reported. A large-scale search and investigation was unsuccessful. The search for the girl was also published on the Interpol website.

Video surfaced

On the Easter weekend, the video made by a Serb living in Vienna on Holy Saturday around 8 p.m. appeared in Serbian online portals. The man said the women who had the girl with them spoke Romanian. He was informed regarding the missing person case through social media. After his observations, the witness first contacted the Serbian authorities because he noticed a similarity to the missing child. The Serbian authorities then turned to the Vienna police with a request for an investigation. The investigation into suspected child abduction was carried out by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, life and limb investigation area. The witness was then interviewed and the video was secured.

According to the Vienna police, following viewing the images, the relatives also initially stated that this was most likely the girl who had gone missing. Therefore, on Wednesday, photographs were published by the Vienna State Police Directorate following an order from the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office. This search has now been revoked.
