The serious suspicion that the Serbian investigators are investigating is that two employees (both 50 years old) of a municipal utility company are said to have run over the child with their company vehicle. They might have been drunk. One of the two got out; the girl is said to have still been alive following the accident. He is then said to have strangled the child.
Buried in landfill
Both are said to have buried the body in a landfill. The suspects were interviewed separately and each pointed to the same spot where the dead girl was said to be.
The public prosecutor’s office in Bor has initiated the imposition of pre-trial detention.
The girl was recently believed to be in Vienna. A Viennese with Serbian roots observed a child who looked similar to the Interpol picture of Danka. But it now seems clear that there should be no connection to Austria.
The path of the two suspects was described in a press conference on Thursday followingnoon. The mother is said to have seen the car and one of the men nearby before her daughter’s death. And the father is said to have later stopped the suspects who were driving by while looking for his daughter and asked if they had seen the girl. But the two said no and continued driving – but they are said to have already transported the 2-year-old in the trunk.
