Reece James, Chelsea’s ‘hot potato’

Chelsea is on the ropes in sporting terms, and also economically. Hence, as it progresses The Times, is thinking of putting important players in the squad up for sale, including captain Reece James. The one who at the time was considered for Real Madrid as a possible reinforcement for the right-back is experiencing a real ordeal with injuries. Every time he seems ready to return, he relapses.

So far in 2023-2024, Reece James has only played nine games, six of them as a starter and in none of them did he complete 90 minutes. After getting injured in the league opener once morest Liverpool, the Englishman was sidelined until October. Injuries gave him a break in November, but once more, in mid-December, the blue captain relapsed. He still does not have a return date.

All of this has made its last seasons a real hell. 2021-2022, in which he played 39 games and generated 16 goals, was his last great season. Even so, he is one of the most liked defenders in several important technical secretaries in Europe. Real Madrid, without going any further, has always had their eye on him, although he is aware of the problem with injuries that he has had lately.

Another of those who might be transferred in the summer is Conor Gallagher. The English midfielder has several interested parties in the Premier League and there will be no shortage of offers to leave the club. He is an England international and has been one of the unremarkable things regarding Chelsea, despite the criticism, in this last era full of disappointments at the Stamford Bridge club. Likewise, since he is a youth player and his contract ends in 2025, the amortization for a large sale would be maximum.
