From the “Taruffi” mixture, the plan for the European elections prepared by Elly’s right-hand man, to a “mixed fried dish”, which risks remaining indigestible to most. It’s just that in the improvised kitchens of the Democratic Party there is never peace, even the Easter truce was consumed in a riot of controversy, so to speak, no doves on the table. Thus a sort of four seasons pizza is approaching, with a segment of civic leaders, one of Elly (perhaps candidate in only one constituency), a bit of a minority with Stefano Bonaccini in the lead in the North East, and a sop also for the MEPs in revolt. In short, “everything is in order, and nothing is in order”, in fact for now the only one who has obtained unanimity is Igor Taruffi, in the sense that everyone in the Democratic Party has said no to him (another notch for the person responsible for organization, which together with its disaster twin, Davide Baruffi, had already achieved a similar result in Basilicata). The first point concerns the candidacies of the “civics” as leaders in the 5 constituencies.
One, that of the North East, Annalisa Corrado, has virtually already failed, at least so Elly Schlein assured Stefano Bonaccini. Another Cecilia Strada, daughter of the founder of Emergency, expected in the North West, is under attack for her international positions. “Don’t change the positioning of the Democratic Party” warned the deputy Lia Quartapelle, thinking precisely of Strada and Marco Tarquinio, the former director of Avvenire, known for his non-interventionism. Roberto Salis, the father of Ilaria, the teacher detained in Budapest, also becomes impatient: “If the candidacy were to fail at the last minute or if the seat were not taken up, it would be a boomerang,” he tells the Huffington Post. Another real ultimatum that hits the Nazarene, “make up your mind”.
Even the only leader announced urbi et orbi by the secretary, Lucia Annunziata for the South, was pierced by a tide of internal controversies. The journalist was branded as “alien to the constituency and lowered from above”. The final result is an unknown worthy of Big Brother: which Civic will remain at the top of the list?
Then there’s the trouble with outgoing MEPs. Elly had thought of recognizing the position only to Camilla Laureti in the center. Even in this case, however, the road is uphill. “It would be a Pilatesque choice, Laureti is the most unknown MEP of the group, she would risk being knocked out by everyone, Zingaretti and Nardella above all”, whisper the Dem parliamentarians in the meetings in the bouvette. And then how to valorise Pina Picierno, vice-president of the European Parliament (who risks fifth place in the South), Irene Tinagli, president of the commission and the telegenic Alessandra Moretti? The two MEPs who have exceeded the limit of three legislatures, Patrizia Toia and Paolo De Castro, are still waiting for a response.
Then there is the question of questions: the candidate secretary but how? Third in all constituencies or top of the list in one? Another decision that has been dragging on for months, all that’s missing is a consultation with a psychoanalyst. In view of the management which will be convened around mid-April, to approve the lists for the European round on 8 and 9 June, in the Democratic Party it is a war of all once morest all. It is indicative that in the Center constituency, the minority is equipped not only once morest Elly’s candidates, but also once morest the defector Nardella, siding for Antonio Mazzeo, president of the Tuscan regional council and for the former deputy Alessia Morani. Certainly not the ideal situation to enjoy a four seasons.
