Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, commented on what was raised regarding an expected increase in drug prices during the coming period as a result of liberalizing the exchange rate, and many companies have submitted requests to move some pharmaceutical items to ensure their sustainability in the market.

Al-Ghamrawi said that before the rise in the price of the dollar, companies were submitting requests to raise prices. What can be done by the authority to ensure the sustainability of the industry in the local market and not place a burden on the Egyptian citizen, the authority does not hesitate to take, but events should not be anticipated.

This came in statements by the head of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, during his meeting with a number of media figures and journalists, on the sidelines of the authority’s annual breakfast.

The Chairman of the Authority welcomed the journalists and media professionals, stressing the Authority’s keenness to build bridges of communication with the media, and that there is a strong partnership between the two sides whose goal is to serve the Egyptian citizen.

He also praised the role of the media in supporting the Authority’s progress. By publishing all awareness materials that enhance the citizen’s drug culture, he stressed that the coming period will witness more periodic communication with the media.

He added that the Authority establishes the rules of transparency and clarity in dealing with the media file, in light of the Egyptian Medicine Authority’s keenness to build bridges of communication, establish the values of brotherhood and cooperation, and consolidate partnership with the national media.
