Russian invasion: “There is nothing that can help Ukraine now”
The Ukrainian army is having a hard time making up for its losses, and Kiev doesn’t want to hear regarding a general mobilization. Meanwhile, other issues are moving into the focus of Western supporters.

According to Ukrainian officers, Western weapons are not enough to withstand the flood of Russian troops for a long period of time.

They warn of an imminent collapse of the front.

They also criticize Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyj.
Elon Musk has sparked outrage with his latest assessments of the war in Ukraine: Although the multi-billionaire sees it as virtually impossible for Russia to conquer the entire country, he urgently warns once morest further losses of territory. “The longer the war lasts, the more territory Russia will gain until they are stopped at the Dnipro for the time being. But if the war lasts long enough, it will [die Hafenstadt] “Odessa will fall,” Musk is certain.
Musk and Zelensky agree for once
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, Musk has repeatedly appeared to side with the invaders, thereby causing criticism in the West. But the latest forecasts from the self-proclaimed geopolitics expert are not far removed from the warnings of Ukrainian President Zelensky. He has recently repeatedly emphasized that massively more Western aid is urgently needed in order to prevent major losses of territory.
While Ukraine is struggling with the approval of aid packages worth billions, many Western countries are also threatening to be distracted by elections in their respective states – at the same time, observers are expecting Russia to want to launch another large-scale offensive in the summer. Ukrainian military officers paint a bleak picture of the situation and see a great danger that the front lines might collapse under Russian pressure.
“There is nothing that might help Ukraine now”
“There is nothing that can help Ukraine now, because there are no serious technologies that Ukraine might use to stop the large mass of troops that Russia is likely to throw at us. We don’t have these technologies, and the West doesn’t have them in sufficient numbers either,” a senior officer told Politico. The military received anonymity in return for their information.
“We don’t have the technologies, and the West doesn’t have them in sufficient numbers either.”

Although Ukraine continues to resist fiercely, this is becoming increasingly difficult due to delayed arms deliveries and weakening support. In addition, Kiev is having increasing problems compensating for personnel losses – lowering the conscription age from 27 to 25 is a reaction, but an “inadequate” one.
“Political imagination instead of reality”
The officers also contradict Oleksandr Syrskyj’s assurances that Ukraine’s troop strength remains appropriate. The officers who served under Syrskyj’s popular predecessor Zalushni accuse the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of adapting his statements to political ideas rather than reality. Although the heavy losses are all too clear to Kiev, the government is hesitant to carry out a comprehensive mobilization due to political concerns.
While Musk has been repeatedly criticized in the past as an agitator once morest Ukraine, his current, gloomy prognosis does not seem too far removed from the assessment of Ukrainian officers. Whether Ukraine will be forced to sit down at the negotiating table soon or whether NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg’s emphatic demands for a 100 billion aid package will still be heard by Western countries will likely affect the continued existence of Ukraine in its current form be crucial.
