Employment consultants use training to make young people aware of the real needs of companies. The objective is to guarantee them orientation towards work, in such a way as to reduce the mismatch, the gap between those offering a job and those looking for it. All this also by raising awareness among new workers on fundamental issues such as, for example, safety at work. In a nutshell, these are the objectives of the traveling tour.”Work travels with us”. Promoted by the Employment Consultants Foundation in collaboration, among others, with the provincial councils of the Order and the National Association of young employment consultants, the initiative was presented today, Tuesday 2 April, at the Chamber of Deputies. Deputy Walter Rizzetto, president of the Montecitorio Labor Commission, also participated in the meeting.
In the background, the numbers, which place a problem under the microscope: according to Unioncamere data, in March 2024 the misalignment between job supply and demand has reached high peaks among companies in the North East, making it difficult to find the 52.9% of profiles sought: a situation that remains critical also in companies in the Center (45.9%) and the South (44.5%). In a country where technical and professional profiles are scarce, it is necessary to make the new generations understand what opportunities the area can offer them once they have finished their studies.
A long tour of Italy in 19 stages: starting from Naples, ending in Messina
Hence the new initiative. I am 19 the stages of the local tour that will cross Italy. We leave tomorrow, Wednesday 3 April, from Naples. Appointment in Piazza Dante. The route will end on May 6th in Messina. The thread that will connect each stage will be the one that passes through raising children’s awareness of the values of legality and safety at work. Young people will have the opportunity to test themselves with “GenL”, a video game created by the category way back in 2019 to educate and promote ethical work by engaging in virtual challenges, which to date have involved over 140 thousand students.
The orientation
Young people will also have the opportunity to learn regarding the paths to take to carry out the profession that is of interest to them. Starting with the information to include in the CV, or how to approach an interview. The kids will also have the opportunity to experience “Sorprendo”, a technological platform that will help them identify their strengths and, consequently, the work environment in which they can play their cards with the greatest chance of success.
De Luca: «We are within a new organizational model»
According to the president of the National Council of the Order of Labor Consultants Rosario Luca «we are within a new organizational model. Not all the components that work in the workplace are ready to face this cultural change.” The formation is one of the main terrains in which the match is played. «In this new job market we need to think differently – he observes -. Today companies can’t find workers because they don’t find them with the characteristics they are looking for. The objective is to create in young people that humus of security and training that can create the conditions for the creation of new working relationships. Young people often enter the world of work unprepared, thanks to the poor school training they receive, for example, in STEM subjects.” As for safety at work, according to De Luca «only the repressive aspect, the sanctions, cannot be enough to reduce deaths at work. We need to focus on training, on culture, to pass the principle that investing in workplace safety cannot be a cost. Most Italian entrepreneurs know that the company’s true assets are its workers. There is no doubt that there are those who violate the rules: in these cases it is necessary to intervene with supervision and sanctions.” At the basis of everything there must be the consideration that “work creates value”. And training is the way to enhance work.
