Digital asset platform Nexo has joined forces with 35 other prominent crypto players to finally launch the Bitcoin emoji.

Supported by more than 170 million crypto-enthusiasts globally, the “Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” campaign has already collected more than 10,000 signatures for their petition to be submitted to the Unicode Consortium. According to their ambitious goals, they can reach up to 50,000 helpers.

The Cultural Significance of Bitcoin

The community effort is seen by many as a testament to the solidarity within the crypto community and a good representation of Bitcoin’s cultural and technological significance.

With Nexo at the helm, the initiative has already gained the support of several leading sector players. Among others, Bitget and Kraken also stood behind the case.

By the way, emoji mania is not new. Previously, Taco Bell also campaigned for taco emoticons, and Tinder fought for interracial couples. However, “Bitcoin deserves an emoji” has already made a big splash with the support of more than 35 crypto pioneers, not just one company.

Kosta Kantchev, co-founder and executive chairman of Nexo, said that due to its massive market dominance, a bitcoin emoji would definitely be needed.

“Bitcoin’s $1.34 billion market dominance demands a unified symbol on every keyboard. With roughly 1.26 billion bitcoin addresses and more than 190,000 experts and tech pioneers driving the global community forward, bitcoinemoji [bevezetése] it’s long overdue,” he said.
