Deputy General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to ensure that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are not burdened following the end of the banking credit restructuring policy due to the impact of Covid-19 as of Sunday, (31/3 ).
The reason is, according to OJK data, as many as 75% of the total debtors receiving the stimulus are MSMEs. During the four years of implementation, the utilization of this credit restructuring stimulus reached IDR 830.2 trillion, which was given to 6.68 million debtors in October 2020. The MSME segment that received restructuring credit reached 4.96 million debtors with a value of IDR 348.8 trillion.
“OJK must monitor whether there are still many MSME players who are still having difficulty repaying loans to banks due to Covid-19,” said Sarman to Media Indonesia, Monday (1/4).
According to him, if it is found that many MSMEs are still having difficulty returning loans to banks, then there needs to be a new policy from the government to maintain and improve the economic capacity of business actors, especially MSMEs.
“If there are still many MSMEs who have credit obligations to banks, this policy needs to be evaluated. Is it possible to provide special space for entrepreneurs who have banking problems due to the impact of Covid-19? So that their businesses can be productive once more,” said Sarman.
The credit restructuring stimulus is considered very important for the continuity of MSME businesses to improve the regional and national economy.

MSMEs are said to be the backbone of national economic growth. The government notes that in 2021, MSMEs will contribute more than 60% of gross domestic product (GDP) and absorb 97%. workforce.
“The point is that space or policies need to be opened to anticipate so that business actors affected by Covid-19 can develop their businesses and absorb a large workforce,” he concluded.
Impact on the Business World
Contacted separately, Bank Permata Chief Economist Josua Pardede is of the view that the end of the OJK banking credit restructuring policy will have an impact on the business world, considering that there are still debtors who have not recovered and are recorded as still using this facility.

“The recorded amount was IDR 251.2 trillion from 977 thousand debtors,” he said
These debtors, said Josua, must increase the required restructuring application requirements in line with banks which can no longer record these customers as during the implementation of OJK incentives.
However, the credit restructuring figure is said to be much better than the highest position in October 2020 which reached IDR 830.2 trillion and 6.68 million debtors. (Ins/Z-7)
