Transavia has just passed the milestone of 5 million passengers departing from Saint-Exupéry airport, since its first flight from Lyon in 2010. “The growth trajectory has continued since the departure”, underlined this Wednesday , in Lyon, Nicolas Hénin, deputy general director of sales and marketing of Transavia France, a low-cost subsidiary of Air France.

Coming to present the summer offer from Lyon, Nicolas Hénin confirmed three new features. The airline will thus serve, with two frequencies per week, Yerevan in Armenia (from April 13), Tirana in Albania and Fez in Morocco, both from April 12. In total, 30 destinations will be covered, across 13 countries. “This summer there will be additional flights to Algeria, where there is a lot of demand, but also to Tunisia, Morocco, Spain,” he added.

A 5th plane should also join, in the coming days, the Transavia base in Saint-Exupéry, which currently only has Boeing 737s. The company, which operates 75 planes in total, began this year the renewal of its fleet, which will migrate to A320 Neo.

“The first A320 Neo arrived in January, the 2nd is expected in the coming days. This aircraft makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 15%; this is our first lever to achieve our decarbonization trajectory,” added Nicolas Hénin, specifying that these new devices will initially be present in Paris.

Recruitments took place in Lyon

The Lyon summer of 2024 will, according to him, be “record-breaking. It will be the largest in terms of capacity from Lyon, with 800,000 seats”, an offer up 23% compared to 2023. Transavia, which has a total of 3,000 employees, has also expanded its Lyon teams with 120 employees, compared to 103 last year.
