The training plan of the Supercentro Group, a large-scale retail trade company present in Southern Italy (Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata) with 120 markets under the Sisa, Ipersisa and QuickSisa, Stop&Shop brands, is underway. The “Talent Workshop” was inaugurated, an academy which in the first year of activity will welcome 40 young people under 25 selected and included in training courses lasting one year as well as around 280 employees involved in training courses on IT and IT, commercial skills and specific to some departments. The coordination between these two activities will also allow better generational integration within the Supercentro workforce, facilitating the transfer of skills between the more experienced staff and young people in a logic of inclusion that enhances everyone’s peculiarities. The young people will be trained to acquire practical technical skills for the roles of store management staff/assistants and butcher/delicatessen counter operators.
A course of 600 classroom hours with internal and external teachers and 300 hours of on-the-job training which will be carried out at the company has been designed for them. Added to these are 250 hours of actual work but the young people already during the training phases will have the opportunity to compare themselves with the company figures who already cover the role for which they are trained. In the coming months Supercentro will acquire certification on gender equality thanks to the support of Kiwa Cermet Italia and Studio Consulenza Barbone.
During the year, other courses will be launched to increase and strengthen the skills and efficiency of over 300 collaborators, including newly hired and already employed staff, which will be added to the 7,600 hours of training provided in 2023 and the 1,680 hours, divided into 8 classrooms made up of 164 people in total, for training relating to fruit and vegetable workers, delicatessen counter workers and butcher shop workers.
«Training is central for a company that caters to the public, which also innovates with technical instruments and which presents products that must always be offered in a different way, especially in the fresh and very fresh departments» explains Annalucia Macripò, commercial director of the Group. For his part, Gabriele di Gennaro, the Group’s Human Resources Manager, points out that «The approach we are implementing – typical of large companies but still new for small businesses like ours – aims to contribute not only to the inclusion of young people but also to the valorisation of the experience and skills of senior workers who thus also feel more valued and motivated.
Furthermore, a continuous training program is dedicated to them to ensure that the growth of people is homogeneous in every department and in every age group. This methodology allows us to grow our collaborators every year: during 2023 there were almost 100 contractual adjustments and level changes”.
