Over 830 euros gross will be o new minimum wage which will be announced today by the government and is in effect from April 1st.
Particularly, information indicates that it will range from 830 to 840 euros with the bar of expectations, in terms of the amount actually reaching 840 euros, being rather low, without however ruling out that the prime minister “eventually pulls off the surprise” during the announcements.
The new increase in the minimum wage will be announced in the cabinet.
In each case, the net amount, that is, what the employee has to receive “in hand”, it must be noted that it is much smaller. Considering that with the current minimum wage, the net profit amounts to 667 euros, the new minimum gross wage will actually give around 710 euros.
It is obvious that despite the important steps that have been taken in recent years, in terms of increasing the amount, the “gap remains huge” since the minimum wage was indicatively 751 euros in 2011. Thus, despite the successive increases in the last four years, they remain penultimate, in terms of purchasing power, in the EU.
The three years
A full-time employee with a three-year contract in 2024 will receive an additional 10% increase, while a three-year contract will receive a 30% increase.
With a salary of 830 euros, with one three years, the new minimum wage will be 913 euros gross, i.e. 762 euros net, with two three years it will reach 996 euros gross and 817.5 euros net, while with three three years, the new minimum wage , if it increases by 50 euros gross, it will amount to 1,079 euros gross which corresponds to 872 euros net (a net increase of 42.5 euros per month).
Examples
That is, an older married employee will receive from 1 April together with the marriage allowance 1,186.9 euros per month. We remind you that the aim of the government is, in a four-year horizon, for the minimum wage to rise to 950 euros and the average wage to 1,500 euros from around 1,220 euros today. In order for the salary to rise to 950 euros in 2027, it will have to increase by at least 5% per year.
Unemployment benefit
The minimum wage pays regarding 600,000 workers, but at the same time the increase in the minimum wage affects the unemployment benefit received by regarding 140,000 unemployed people. The new allowance will increase to 510 euros from the current 479 euros.
In particular, the increase in the minimum leads to an upward trend in 19 allowances:
- The special maternity allowance
- the parental leave allowance and
- the work experience allowance from 780 euros will increase to 830 or 840 euros.
Also, the self-employed aid will increase from 479 euros to 510 euros and the work allowance (50% unemployment benefit) from 239.5 euros to 255 euros.
How much are DYPA benefits increasing from April 1, 2024
Indicatively, the benefits, following the increase of the minimum wage by up to 6.5%, will be structured as follows:
- Special maternity benefit: Minimum salary from 780 euros to 830 euros.
- Parental leave allowance: Minimum salary from 780 euros to 830 euros.
- Prison release allowance: 15 daily allowances from €287.4 to €306.08
- Insolvency of employer: Up to 3 salaries.
- Builders’ seasonal: 70% of the 37 daily wages from 902.43 to 961.08 euros.
- Emery season: 70% of 50 days from 1,219.50 to 1,298.76 euros
- Seasonal for artists, theaters, tourism: 70% of 25 days from 609.75 to 649.38 euros
- Other seasonal (forest workers-resin collectors, tobacco workers, potters-ceramists-brickmakers and employees of the shipyard zone): 70% of the 35 per day from 853.65 to 909.13 euros
- Unemployment benefit: Monthly unemployment benefit from 479 euros to 510.13 euros
- Work allowance: 50% of unemployment allowance from 239.5 euros to 255.06 euros
