Medan Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan), which is a vocational high school under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), invites millennials or the younger generation to become entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. In accordance with the vision and mission of Polbangtan and the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely forming young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector who are advanced, independent and modern.
Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said that entrepreneurship is an effort to regenerate skilled workers in the agricultural sector who have an entrepreneurial spirit or socio-agripreneur. Maintaining sustainable agricultural development by producing professional, independent and competitive agricultural human resources.
“This entrepreneurship is not intended just to produce skilled workers in the agricultural sector. But more than that, creating entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. “Graduating from Polbangtan requires creating jobs, not looking for jobs,” said Amran, in his statement, Monday (1/4).
For this reason, Polbangtan Medan held a public lecture with the theme Young Entrepreneurs, as well as the Millennial Agriculture Forum Volume 12 Edition 5 on Saturday (30/3) which was held in a hybrid manner from the Polbangtan Medan campus hall.

“Agriculture produces oxygen, produces food, conserves water and agriculture also produces shelter. Agriculture is actually what provides life for all living creatures on this earth. The question is who drives the agriculture, who carries out the agriculture, who works on the agriculture. “Those who work on agriculture, those who work on agriculture, those who carry out agriculture are none other than farmers,” said Dedi.
This public lecture was also attended directly by the Head of the Agricultural Education Center (Kapusdiktan) Idha Widi Arsanti. Idha hopes that Medan Polbangtan graduates will become job seekers and job creators in the agricultural sector.

Thus, young entrepreneurs operating in the food sector have a very broad scope. To become a successful agripreneur there are 6 steps, including loving what you do, doing it systematically, learning how to promote yourself, making a plan and realizing your business, it’s never too late, build a solid work team and be dynamic, innovative and ambitious.
Not only that, this Public Lecture was also attended by the Founder and Chairman, Mcorp, a Leading Marketing Professional Service Firm in ASEAN, Hermawan Kartajaya.
Hermawan believes that students and public lecture participants must be able to identify market needs in order to be more precise in creating a business.
“If you become an entrepreneur, you have to be quick to see rapidly changing conditions. “An entrepreneur is someone who has creative innovation (new ideas that must be tried) coupled with professionalism,” said Hermawan. (Z-8)
