SCWP law firm is giving itself a new name

The law firm previously known as SCWP Schindhelm (Saxinger, Chalupsky and Partner) has had the new name “Saxinger” since April 1st. The name is “more succinct,” says Christoph Luegmair: The lawyer runs Saxinger’s business operations together with Immanuel Gerstner. The new name is intended to signal, on the one hand, the connection with the past and, on the other hand, clear structures and further development.

SCWP was created in 2001 through the merger of the Linz law firm Saxinger Baumann and the Wels law firm Chalupsky Gumpoldsberger, and a Viennese law firm was added later. Some of the people named following them have retired for a long time or are no longer working for the law firm.

In addition, the rejuvenation of the law firm (based in Linz) was initiated last year: the number of partners was doubled to twelve, and the new partners are all under 50 years old. According to Luegmair, these were the reasons for introducing a one-name brand. The roots of the law firm go back around 80 years, when the grandfather of long-time SCWP partner emeritus Eduard Saxinger founded the Linz law firm. They want to rely on these roots. Saxinger is a member of an alliance of European commercial law firms that use the additional name “Schindhelm”. This remains in place.

Saxinger employs around 160 people at four locations (Linz, Wels, Vienna, Graz) and, according to its own information, is one of the five largest Austrian law firms.
