The dates for when schools will close for Easter have been announced. As it became known, the schools will be closed for the Easter holidays on Friday, April 26, 2024. At the same time, they are expected to reopen on Monday, May 13, 2024.
However, students and teachers are set to enjoy two more days of vacation before the end of the school year. This will happen because of the 2024 European elections.
More specifically, schools will be closed on Friday, June 7 and Monday, June 10, so that the election procedures can take place.

Holidays, Holidays and Celebrations
Kindergartens and primary schools are closed on the following days and periods:
- on Saturdays and Sundays,
- on October 28 (national holiday),
- from December 24 until January 7 (Christmas holidays),
- on Maundy Monday,
- on March 25 (national holiday),
- from Holy Monday until the Friday of Diakenissimos (Easter holidays),
- on May 1st,
- the feast of the Holy Spirit,
- from June 22 until August 31 (summer holidays) and
- on the day of the patron saint of the school and on the day of the local national holiday.
When do schools close for the summer?
According to the law, primary schools and kindergartens are due to close as usual on June 15 for the summer holidays. If June 15, however, falls on a holiday or weekend, schools close on the previous working day.
June 15 for the year 2024 falls on a Saturday, so schools will be closed on Friday, June 14, 2024. In fact, in most schools the last day of the school year is usually not accompanied by lessons, but by holidays, sports, music or dance events .
The above only applies to kindergartens and elementary schools, as in high schools and high schools, when they close is determined by the Ministry of Education, as it depends on the exams, as well as the Panhellenic exams.
