A panna cotta It’s a sweet that looks like a pudding, made basically of cream and gelatin. It originates in Piedmont, Italy, but has conquered the palates of people all over the world, as it is a delicate, fresh and very tasty dessert.
What do you need to make panacota?
To make panacota, you need to create a cream base and then define the flavor. This way, it opens up many possibilities to create according to your preference. A good option is to use coffee, a very traditional item that can give a different taste:
- 1 can of condensed milk;
- 1 can of cream;
- 1 and a half cans of fresh milk (use the empty condensed milk can to measure);
- 1 packet of unflavored gelatin (approximately 12g);
- 2 tablespoons of instant coffee.
This dessert is great for an followingnoon coffee on a hot day, or even to complete the dessert table on a festive day, like Christmas or Easter. Furthermore, the base of this candy can be changed to different flavors!
How to make the panacota?
To make the panacota, the first step is to hydrate the unflavored gelatin. Therefore, it is important to always follow the instructions on the packaging, which, in general, involves dissolving the contents of the package in cold water and then heating it.
The best ways to dissolve gelatin are in a double boiler or in the microwave. Also, be careful not to let it boil until it becomes completely liquid.
Then, in a small amount of hot fresh milk, dissolve two tablespoons of instant coffee, stirring well until you obtain a homogeneous solution.
After dissolving the coffee, in a pan, add the condensed milk, cream and the rest of the fresh milk, adding the coffee mixture to it.
Place the pan over medium heat, stirring constantly so that the mixture becomes uniform and begins to heat up, but without reaching a boil.
Mixing the ingredients
When the mixture is heated, remove it from the heat and add the dissolved gelatin, mixing well so that everything is well mixed. After that, pour the mixture into molds, whether individual or large.
Let the mixture cool for a few minutes before putting it in the fridge. The molds must remain cold for at least 4 hours, or until the dessert is firm, ideally leaving overnight to achieve the perfect texture.
How to unmold the candy?
To unmold, use a blunt knife to loosen the edges of the candy from the mold and, if necessary, briefly bathe it in hot water at the base of the mold. Invert the dessert onto a plate to serve.
You can also choose to serve directly into the individual molds if you wish. To finish, the coffee panacota can be served plain or accompanied by fresh whipped cream or chocolate cream, which is delicious!
