Information for expatriates in New York by N. Kerameos about the postal vote – 2024-04-02 05:53:41

As part of her tour of North America with the aim of informing expatriates regarding the postal vote, the Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos, spoke to Greek correspondents at the Consulate General of New York, in a press conference organized by the Office of Public Diplomacy of New York. York.

Ms. Kerameos repeated all the basic steps of the registration and identification process, emphasizing the system’s security safeguards. So far there have been 43,000 registrations on the platform from 102 different countries.

“The postal vote is a bridge that connects expatriates around the world with Greece in an even stronger way. We call on Greek citizens to take advantage of this opportunity offered by the Greek state. Our goal is to make it easier for all Greek citizens, both at home and abroad, to exercise their right to vote,” said the Minister of the Interior.

The Minister of the Interior mentioned that during her tour she received great acceptance of the postal vote from the expatriates, who expressed to her that they now feel closer to Greece.

“Difficulties have led us to where we are. Citizens’ complaints and requests led us to lift the restrictions. Now, every Greek citizen has the opportunity to vote. We incorporated the best practices for the security of the process, with successive identifications and security messages, based on the OSCE guidelines” said Ms. Kerameos.

Immediately followingwards, at a reception that took place at the residence of the Consul General, Constantinos Constantinos, Ms. Kerameos presented to well-known executives of the Greek-American community the platform for registration in the postal voting lists, in view of the June 9 European elections.

The Greek expatriates, speaking to the Minister of the Interior, expressed their relief, following so many years of efforts needed to implement their request.
