Paris.. Demonstrators demand “an immediate ceasefire in Gaza”

Paris – Yesterday, Saturday, the French capital, Paris, witnessed a demonstration to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day, March 30.

The demonstrators carried Palestinian flags, chanting slogans such as “Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people,” and “There will be no peace in the world unless justice is achieved in Palestine.”

The demonstrators demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and a ban on Israel from participating in the Olympic Games in Paris, between July 26 and August 11, 2024.

Activists who brought an olive tree to represent Palestine called on citizens not to shop from brands that support Israel.

In an interview with Anatolia, French lawyer of Palestinian origin, Salah Hammouri, author of the book “The Prisoner of Jerusalem,” touched on information published by the Disclose website and Marsacto newspaper, stating that France sent at least 100,000 cartridges used in machine guns to Israel in October. First 2023.

Al-Hamouri said that this news “confirms that France sent weapons to the Israeli army, and that it directly participated in the genocide and crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.”

He pointed out that “the United States also agreed to send F-35 fighter jets and tens of thousands of bombs to Israel.”

Al-Hammouri stressed, “This shows once once more that Western powers and the United States are complicit in the ongoing genocide.”

In turn, Irish demonstrator Ellen Groves, who lives in Paris, said: “I am here for the children, mothers and fathers in Gaza, until this massacre ends.”

“I cannot accept that thousands of children will be killed in front of the world in 2024,” Groves added.

Saturday marks the anniversary of Land Day, which dates back to 1976, when the Israeli authorities confiscated vast areas of the lands of its Arab population.

Palestinians everywhere commemorate Land Day, on March 30 of each year, by launching several activities.

The anniversary this year comes amid the escalation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since last October 7, and the escalation of the settlement attack in the West Bank.

Israel is waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of victims, most of them children and women, a humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure and property, which led to Israel being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”

Land Day gained great importance for Palestinians, as it was the first clash that occurred between the Palestinian masses inside Israel and the occupation authorities, according to observers.
