Panserraikos “opened an account” – 2-0 Asteras Tripoli 2024-04-01 06:19:21

Tasos Avlonitis was the main protagonist for Pablo Garcia’s team, following he won the penalty with which Amr Warda opened the scoring (59′), while in 74′ he shaped the final result himself.

In their first final, in the 6th minute, the Arkades – who disappointed once more overall – came very close to the goal. Emil Bergström’s misplaced pass put Juan Miritello in front of Adrian Hovan, but the Slovakian keeper first kicked the ball onto the post and then blocked it.

The visitors did have possession of the ball, but they might not create opportunities. A consequence, perhaps, of the unexpected, for the time, heat, which prompted Konstantinos Chetsilas to take a break so that the players might cool off.

The “lions” weren’t dangerous either and it took the 40th minute for them to threaten. From Warda’s free kick, Bergstrom passed to Apostolos Diamantis who from the small area sent the ball to the crossbar of Antonis Tsiftsis. As the phase progressed, Kenny Woolery missed his attempted cross. The two coaches each made one change at the break and both played a catalytic role followingwards.

On Avlonitis’ header, Evgeni Yablonski found the ball with his hand. Initially, there was no hint, but following the intervention of the VAR (Andreas Gamaris, Antonis Siniorakis), Tsetsilas did an on-field review and awarded the final penalty, which Warda converted into a goal for 1-0 in the 59th minute. Yablonski tried in the 70th minute to atone for his mistake, but missed from an advantageous position.

Four minutes later, Panserraikos “locked” the victory. After a corner kick, the guests failed to clear the ball, Avlonitis became its owner and defeated Tsiftsis for the second time for 2-0. Somewhere there the… modest ceremony came to an end, with Panserraikos getting the “three points” which, essentially, puts an end to any concerns regarding his stay.

On the other hand, the new defeat throws Milan Rastavac’s team into even greater introversion, which might not even score the goal of honor – Hovan blocked Regis Crespi’s attempt at 90+6′.
