Israel – The families of Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian faction movement threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with burning Israel if an exchange deal was not reached that would lead to the release of their sons.
In a dramatic step to escalate the protests once morest Netanyahu, the families of the kidnapped people, who participated in a demonstration on Saturday evening, announced that they were waging a broad civil struggle.
Sher Siegel, the daughter of Aviva and Keith who were in captivity of the faction movement in Gaza, called on the Israeli people to engage in a widespread civil struggle and said: “We will not stand here anymore and we will not beg anymore. We know that there is a deal on the table and you (Netanyahu and his government) are obstructing it.”
She added: “From today you will see us all over Israel… We will burn Israel, because we are tired of you lying to us.” You tell us that you do everything. No, you don’t do everything.
She added: “We ask the entire State of Israel not to calm down or remain silent and to go out into the streets with us. They are not just our streets, they are everyone’s streets.” As long as these people do not return to their homes, we will not return either. We will all take to the street and burn the country.”
She continued: “The Israeli Knesset will go on vacation. This is the Knesset where we elected the people who are supposed to work for us. They are going on vacation and we are telling them that there will be no rest here.” We will all march to the headquarters of the Israeli Knesset to say that there is no rest and freedom until all the kidnapped people return to their homes.”
Shira Albag, the mother of captive Leri Albag, also spoke at the demonstration and said: “176 days and 4,224 hours have passed in which I heard Liri screaming: My mother, save me. The people of Israel will not forget or forgive anyone who blocks a deal that will bring them back to us. The excuses are over.”
She added: “The negotiating team was given a mandate to reach an agreement. Dear citizens of Israel, following months spent here by our side, it is time to step out to fight apathy and in favor of life. I ask you now – take to the streets and let us be one voice. We will not return to our lives until everyone returns… an exchange deal now.”
The protest taking place on Saturday night is one of several marches in recent weeks, and one of the demonstrators, a local resident of Caesarea named Hanna Zissel, told The Times of Israel: “They (the protests) are aimed at increasing pressure on him until he goes to new elections.”
Violent clashes broke out yesterday evening, Saturday, between the Israeli police and demonstrators demanding the dismissal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the conclusion of an immediate exchange deal in several streets in Tel Aviv.
