Ukraine switches to summer time on Sunday, March 31. At three o’clock in the morning Kyiv time, the hand of the clock must be moved forward one hour.

The Ministry of Economy was reminded of this.

The transition to winter and summer time takes place in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of May 13, 1996.

“The time in force in Ukraine in winter is natural for the territory of our country and corresponds to its geographical location, and in the period from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October, summer time is introduced in order to effectively use the light part of the day”– the Ministry of Economy explained and reminded that this is a generally accepted international practice.

We will remind, several years ago in Ukraine they tried to cancel the seasonal change of clock. In the fall of 2020, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, registered the draft law “On Calculating Time in Ukraine”, which proposed to abandon the transition to “summer” and “winter” time and to establish a single Kyiv time on the territory of Ukraine – UTC+2.

In the first reading, the draft law was adopted in March 2021. However, there were not enough votes for the final approval of the initiative. So far, the Council has not returned to the issue of canceling the change of clock.
