According to coffee media, on March 14, the Port of Mariel in Cuba received a historic shipment: 518,000 eggs from Colombian farms. This milestone marked the first export of Colombian eggs to Cuba and is the result of the joint work of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, ProColombia, associations of the poultry sector and the Cuban authorities.
They highlighted that the arrival of Colombian eggs to Cuba is a crucial step in the reactivation of foreign trade between both countries and a relief to the reduced egg production on the island, which is not enough to supply even the so-called “basic basket.” Those products that are sold at prices subsidized by the supply book.
