An Emirati company is developing with Russia a global transport corridor faster than the Suez Canal

Russia – The Russian company “Rosatom” plans to implement a long-term program with the UAE’s “DP World” to ship goods by container through the Russian Northern Shipping Corridor.

Alexei Likhachev, the general director of the Russian Rosatom company, told reporters today, Friday: “We aim, with our Arab partners, to form an alliance to develop transit freight through the Northern Shipping Corridor, and we seek to develop a huge, long-term program with the participation of DB World to develop freight through the corridor, primarily transit.” Containers.”

Last year, Rosatom, in cooperation with DP World, established a company to develop the Northern Shipping Corridor between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The Chairman and CEO of DB World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, indicated earlier that the company is developing a transit shipping route that will be regarding 40% faster from Tokyo to London compared to shipping through the Suez Canal.

The project is expected to provide an annual traffic volume of up to 800,000 TEUs, and it is planned to build container ships to ship goods through the corridor.

The Northern Navigation Corridor extends across the Arctic Circle and connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Russia is working rapidly to develop it, as it continues to manufacture an additional number of icebreakers to accompany commercial ships, and to supplement its largest fleet of icebreakers in the world.

The Northern Strait is expected to become a major trade route between Europe and Asia.
