The heavy rains generated an avalanche in the Jamondino ravine, a rural area of the municipality of Pasto, which caused the clogging of a sewer between the Minga and Chambú neighborhoods.
The avalanche damaged two bridges and affected 100 families, according to the first report from local authorities.
The director of the Local Directorate of Emergencies, Ricardo Ortiz, noted that heavy rains caused the growth of the Guachucal creek.

Faced with this emergency, local authorities decided to evacuate the El Potrerillo market square, the city’s main supply center, due to a possible avalanche towards this sector.
“There was a blockage of the sewage system, which caused a damming, which presented a high amount of water, mud and trees that were dragged from the upper part,” Ortiz said.
