Al-Nasr and Al-Hilal officials threw the ball at the Saudi Football Association stadium, to appoint a Saudi or foreign refereeing team during the two teams’ awaited match, within the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup, on the 29th of this month of Ramadan.
Private sources revealed to Al-Riyadiya that the two major capital cities did not request foreign referees to face their upcoming teams, despite the Football Association’s no objection, according to its regulations. The same sources explained that the managements of the two clubs are awaiting the decision of the Football Association, either to appoint a local arbitration team, which is expected, or to choose a foreign team, especially following the end of the legal deadline for submitting the request.
The Football Association requires that a non-Saudi crew request be submitted at least two weeks before the match date, so that the allocated amount is deposited when submitting the request, whether on the team’s soil or outside it, in addition to attaching the transfer or delivering a check with the request. The yellow and blue will meet at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital, with the one who qualifies in the final facing the winner of the other match, which brings together Al-Ittihad and Al-Wahda, on the second day of Eid Al-Fitr in the Emirates.
It is noteworthy that the two other semi-final parties, Al-Ittihad and Al-Wehda, also did not request foreign referees to face them, and are awaiting the final and official decision of the Football Association.
