Within the framework of the two years of the government of the President, Gabriel Boric, which ended yesterday; The regional Presidential delegate, Anwar Farrán, together with the Minister of Sports, Jaime Pizarro, headed the regional cabinet.
The local authority stressed that “we know that there is no time to lose. What the President of the Republic has asked of us is that we go out and make concrete, that we go out and materialize all the announcements, all the indications, the instructions from the Executive, because we are a government close to the people, we want to accompany the citizens, and we want to be on the ground, just as the President has asked this of his ministers, and I, as a Presidential delegate, have also demanded of our cabinet: to deploy on the ground for the people and by the people of Ñuble and its twenty-one communes.” , he stated.
Anwar Farrán highlighted the work that has been done on the ground, and from that vision, he said, “there are many things that have been done. From the Presidential Delegation, the delegate who speaks to you has been working for three months, but we wanted to give meaning to our management. From the perspective of public safety, for example, we have worked hard on the Street Without Violence plan, and since the implementation of this plan here on the streets of our city and our region, particularly, homicides have decreased by 42%. We are the second region that has the best results at the national level along with the Magallanes region, and that of course makes us very happy, but in no case does it invite us to give up. We know what the challenge is ahead of us,” he said.
The delegate highlighted that “we have also collaborated regarding the infrastructure for our police forces. In 2023, the Ministry of National Assets made a change in the destination of Capilla Cox. All this in the commune of Chillán, so that the Carabineros can build the first training school in the Ñuble region. It is something that is also quite relevant for us,” he expressed.
Energy for the hospital
In other matters, he stated, “there has also been progress. As happened in transportation. For a couple of months now, the region in particular has had two cities that are on par with the great capitals of the world. We are talking regarding Chillán and Chillán Viejo, which integrated 100% electronic collection, and that is very important, because cash disappeared here too, in a commune where public transportation is of utmost importance. We can also talk regarding works that recover cities during the year 2023. The Ministry of Public Works identified 45 works that we had to develop to recover damaged infrastructure. Of these 45 works, we have already completed nine, and that, of course, invites us to continue working. For this year, the project portfolio is also announcing an investment close to $66 billion,” he highlighted.
Regarding Energy, he maintained, “we are also working hard so that two stations, two substations, come to strengthen the electrical transmission system, and at the same time, guarantee that next year, when the future hospital will be delivered in 2025 regional of Ñuble, citizens are assured that the electricity supply will be guaranteed for our hospital. And in terms of forest fires, you have seen the work we have been able to do. We have done a lot of work in prevention, with 47% more resources that have come from the State to strengthen the management of Conaf, and that has been seen during this past season,” he stated.
Regarding short-term objectives, Farrán insisted on “continuing working together with the people, with the territory, and of course, making announcements such as, for example, the program that we have been executing with the Crime Prevention Secretariat that has to do with mobile surveillance. During the month of April, we are going to have the mobile phones, the drones, up in the sky, in the twenty-one communes of our region of Ñuble, and that is only part of the progress that we are showing by our management,” he stated.
