Iceland national team midfielder Daniel Leo Gretarsson expressed confidence that Ukraine won thanks to luck in the final playoff qualifying for Euro 2024. The 28-year-old football player noted that he and his partners managed to defend very well, and the final score itself (1:2) was a real shock for them.
Gretarsson stated this in a commentary portal mbl.is, summing up the results of the fight in Wroclaw. The visiting player added that the game with Ukraine was one of the most important in his career, and therefore it was extremely difficult to accept defeat in it, since the “blue-yellows” did not create a large number of scoring chances.
“It’s not what we planned. We wanted to go to the European Championships, but today it didn’t happen. They didn’t create many chances for us, so I think they were just lucky. We had chances.
