Foreign Ministry revokes passport resolutions issued by the previous administration

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia announced the revocation of the passport process resolutions issued by the previous Secretary General.

This decision was made following carrying out the corresponding legal analyzes and following determining that said resolutions were issued outside of any legal framework.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, this measure was taken “in order to guarantee the principle of legality and the constitutional principles of the administrative function.”

In addition, it was reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Legal Defense Agency of the State have filed complaints to investigate the alleged commission of crimes associated with the issuance of said administrative acts.

Despite this revocation, the Foreign Ministry assured that the passport issuance service in Colombia and abroad is guaranteed.

The company in charge of the service reiterated in writing its commitment to fulfill contract 356 until its completion on October 2, 2024.

It was highlighted that while the necessary processes are carried out, a comprehensive review will be carried out.

This so that it is possible to contract a new passport issuance service with adequate technical, technological and financial support starting in October.

For its part, the National Government reiterated its commitment to guarantee the passport issuance service.

In addition, he promised to keep citizens informed regarding all the steps of this process.
