The Landestheater Linz and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz mourn their former administrative director Fritz Breitenfellner (1929–2024), who died last Saturday.
He leaves behind an important legacy in the Upper Austrian cultural scene; his long-standing career was characterized by dedication, commitment and tireless work for the State Theater and the Bruckner Orchestra, according to the obituary published yesterday. From 1949 to 1991, Breitenfellner worked in various positions at the State Theater, including his work as head of the artistic operations office and, from 1981, as administrative director of the State Theater and administrative head of the Bruckner Orchestra.
His work was characterized by professionalism, commitment and a deep passion for culture. For his services, Breitenfellner was awarded, among other things, the “Golden Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria”, which was presented to him in 1992 by Governor Josef Ratzenböck.
