On Saturday, March 30, a walk-in measles vaccination clinic for young people and adults will be held in Sept-Îles.

The operation will take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Vents et Tides Medical Clinic, on Brochu Avenue.

The CISSS indicates that the team of professionals will be on site to give vaccines and answer questions from those who have questions regarding their vaccination status.

Vaccination will be possible for children and any adult born from 1970.

In recent weeks, the director of public health at the CISSS de la Côte-Nord, Richard Fachehoun, noted that parents of children aged two and under were more reluctant to have them vaccinated since the COVID-19 pandemic. We insist, it is important that children are vaccinated. […] Vaccines are effective and safe, he maintained.

For his part, the director of health and social services for the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador, Stanley Vollant, recently indicated that measles is a disease with a significant mortality rate. This is why he recalls that fifty years ago, infant mortality among the First Nations melted like snow in the sun thanks to vaccination.

It’s important to redo the message and convince people, for the good of their children and also for the good of the community, he adds.
