Waalwijk

The police are investigating the disruption of a performance by singer Lenny Kuhr on Sunday followingnoon. Four pro-Palestinian activists then walked onto the stage of Theater De Leest in Waalwijk.

The police issued a description of the four via X on Monday. These are three women aged approximately 65, 55 and 25 years old, and a man aged around 25 who wore a red hat.

The four shouted, among other things, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”. That is a controversial text, because the territory of the State of Israel is located between the Jordan River (“the river”) and the Mediterranean Sea (“the sea”). One of the demonstrators also waved a Palestinian flag and flyers were thrown around the room.

Declaration

Kuhr was accused of being a murderer and terrorist during the incident. The activists also referred to the fact that the singer’s children and grandchildren live in Israel. Her then 19-year-old grandson, a soldier in the Israeli army, was shot in the stomach during a firefight with the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in October last year. Kuhr then flew to Israel to be with him.

Kuhr has filed a complaint of insult, defamation and slander. Two witnesses have now been heard. The reservations and camera images are also viewed and audio fragments are listened to.

The singer did finish her performance. This week she will be on stage in Stadskanaal and Monster.
