In the coming month of April the new electricity rate in Cuba will be billed.
This has been recalled by the Electric Company of the province of Sancti Spíritus, in statements to Escambray.
The commercial director of the entity stated that in the month of March the new electricity prices for the residential sector came into force, which imply that every customer that exceeds 500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) will receive an increase in their bill, which will pay in April.
The manager insisted that the rate increase will be 25 percent. Self-employed workers, places where productive activities are carried out and the non-state sector will be excepted.
According to the information offered, Sancti Spíritus has 5,881 clients who have a consumption greater than 500 kWh, a figure that they expect to grow in the summer months.
However, the official considers that “the number of users to whom the increase will be applied is not representative,” because the province has around 186,000 clients.
The Sancti Spiritus Electric Company reiterated that the calculation of the 25 percent increase will only apply to kilowatts that are above 500. The rest will remain as before. However, there is some confusion with the percentages announced by the authorities.
