The Easter long weekend might disappoint some. Forecast.

And bref:

  • Easter comes early this year;

  • Trajectory of a system to be monitored;

  • Southern Quebec should get away with it.

Early party

The Easter long weekend comes early this year. The earlier the religious holiday occurs, the greater the chances of cool weather. This week, the south of the province is enjoying relatively mild temperatures for the season. However, the mercury should drop by Friday while remaining above normal. In fact, some regions would be luckier than others for all four days. An imposing coastal system might act up.

Coastal system

For several weeks, the east of the province has been particularly spoiled in terms of disruptions. Coastal depressions follow one another at an impressive pace. They dump significant amounts of precipitation due to their high humidity load. This Saturday, meteorologists are monitoring the trajectory that this imposing system will take. According to the models, snow and rain are anticipated in Gaspésie and on the North Shore. During this time, areas of western Quebec would benefit from clear weather with temperatures likely to fluctuate close to the seasonal average.

Beautiful weekends

For those who remember, last year’s Easter weekend was almost flawless. The 2023 edition took place the weekend of April 9. Over the past forty years, meteorologist Réjean Ouimet has spotted six cases where all four days were beautiful. Will we add 2024 to this list? Probably not, since the weekend might be partly ruined in certain regions.
