In an interview, producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked regarding the current status of the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” and confirmed that it will be a reboot.
It has become quiet regarding the former Hollywood and fan favorite Johnny Depp – and just as quiet regarding his most successful film series “Pirates of the Caribbean” or “Pirates of the Caribbean”, as the first part is called here. But while things will apparently remain quiet around the 60-year-old for the time being due to a lack of film projects, Disney’s billion-dollar franchise might make a comeback in the near future – completely free of legacy issues, if you will. It had already been known for some time that the next film would mark a new beginning. Nevertheless, fans were hoping for the return of one or two characters, especially Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, at least in the form of cameo appearances.
These fans have to be very strong now, because it’s absolutely certain that nothing will come of this: Von Comic Book When asked regarding the current plans for his two hit franchises “Top Gun” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” star producer Jerry Bruckheimer remained relatively tight-lipped regarding potential film productions, but confirmed that the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” Film will be a reboot:
“It’s difficult to say. You can’t know, you really can’t know. You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because in ‘Top Gun’ you have an actor (Tom Cruise, editor’s note) who is iconic and brilliant. And I can’t say how many films he’ll make before he devotes himself to ‘Top Gun.’ But we’re going to start ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ once more, so it’s easier to do because you don’t have to wait for certain actors to end.”
By this, Bruckheimer probably means not only the really big names and A-list stars like Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, whose schedules always had to be coordinated, which complicated planning, but also recurring supporting actors such as Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Lee Arenberg as Pintel and Mackenzie Crook as his nephew Ragetti. And: Recurring actors who are essential to the production want more money from film to film, which in turn inflates the budget. With a reboot, as disappointed as fans might be, this obstacle will be avoided directly.
In addition, due to the sticking to certain characters, the series ended up in a whirlpool of recurring motifs and elements from which there was no escape. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge” was painful proof of this. The last part, which was released in 2017, was not a flop, but it can certainly be viewed as a financial disappointment. However, we show you real flops in the video.
“Pirates of the Caribbean” reboot comes from “The Last of Us” creator
Even though Johnny Depp will no longer be there as the figurehead of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, fans can be more than excited regarding the next film. Because this is responsible for none other than Craig Mazin, who was the showrunner for two of the best series of recent years: “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us”.
In an older interview, the filmmaker also suggested that his reboot would be really crazy – so crazy that at first he didn’t even want to believe that those in charge at Disney would give his idea the green light. But they have and the script by regular writer Ted Elliot is said to have already been completed. It shouldn’t be too long before the first thing happens.
