“At the end of 2023, Gys has doubled its 2019 turnover, from 70 million to 135 million euros”, says Bruno Bouygues, from Gys, with a smile on his lips and a look full of optimism. His company, based in Saint-Berthevin (Mayenne), specializes in welding equipment, battery chargers and body repair equipment.

The family company, 60 years old this year, now has 900 employees (compared to 450 in 2012 and 700 in 2020), and draws “ more than 60% of turnover from international activity ».

Soon in Spain

After England and Germany, the Mayenne group has just confirmed its base in Italy, where it has just inaugurated a brand new building, north of Venice. And aims, in 2025, to build a building in Spain, where the group also deployed a subsidiary two years ago.

“We are thus creating our first ring around France. The global situation interests us. She’s not bad.

… then the Eastern countries

Our challenge for the next three years is to deploy a second ring with a presence in Eastern countries. (Poland, Romania, Czechia, etc.), says Bruno Bouygues.

We have also been established for more than 15 years in Asia, in Shanghai, where our products meet the Chinese market. » Gys also has a foot in Africa, with “a collaborator, based in Morocco, who sells in all countries on the continent. »

Objective: to be multi-channel

Bruno Bouygues makes no secret of it, he dreams of establishing himself in the USA. “The goal is to be multi-channel. The more you go in technology, the closer you have to be to your customers. »

For now, the priority is to carry out two investment projects in Saint-Berthevin. “One concerns the expansion of the building dedicated to research and development. The other is dedicated to the development of a new car park, with shade structures, which will be equipped with photovoltaic solar panels. »

Optimism

The company adapts to the needs of the markets in which it operates, those of the industrial, automobile and construction sectors. “We remain cautious, but we move forward with optimism. The numbers are good”rejoices the Mayenne boss, who will celebrate his 20th anniversary this year within the family group.
