“To enjoy a holiday in Italy or abroad during Easter, you need to reach into your wallet and face increasingly higher expenses, due to the increases in air fares but also the increases in prices of accommodation facilities”: this is what Codacons states, which analyzed the price trend in the tourism sector during the Easter holidays. Anyone who decides to treat themselves to a week at the seaside abroad in one of the most popular locations during Easter “must take into account an expense for plane tickets of no less than one thousand euros for the return trip”.

To fly from Rome to Mauritius, Cuba or Santo Domingo, leaving on Saturday 30 March and returning on Saturday 6 April, the flight costs over 1,200 euros per passenger, slightly less if you go to the Seychelles (1,148 euros) or Zanzibar (1,080 euros). Flying from Milan you need at least 1,247 euros for Zanzibar, 1,212 euros for the Seychelles, 1,156 euros for Havana, over 1,000 euros for Santo Domingo. The cost for the Maldives and Cape Verde both from Rome and Milan is also around 1,000 euros. Spending on closer destinations is halved, while still remaining at high levels: for Tenerife you need a minimum of 509 euros coming from Rome, 476 euros for Sharm el-Sheikh and 395 for Gran Canaria.

It won’t be any better for those who decide to spend the Easter and Easter Monday days away from home, but remaining in Italy: the rates of accommodation in art cities appear to be rising sharply, thanks to the recovery of tourism, reports Codacons. For example, to sleep three nights in a 3-star hotel between Saturday 30 March and Tuesday 2 April (double room), the expense, if you are also willing to stay in peripheral areas, varies from a minimum of 407 euros to a maximum of 1,597 euros in Florence, from 251 to 2,723 euros in Rome, from 427 to 1,333 euros in Venice, from 342 to 724 euros in Milan and from 240 to 1,015 euros in Naples.
