It has now become a tradition that the popular OÖNachrichten wine show takes place every year and a half in Gmunden with the Pernkopf family.
Briefly to explain the public tasting: 22 winemakers from Austria submit their wines. Guests taste these blindly so as not to be confused by labels or well-known names. The wine whose bottles are drunk first is the winner of the wine show. Before that, sommeliers also taste the wines in secret, judge them according to the 20-point system and choose their favorite. At the end of the wine show, the audience’s rating is compared to the sommelier’s rating.
Last time we tasted Blaufränkisch in Gaspoltshofen. Reserve Ried Goldberg by Bernhard Ernst was considered the best wine by the experts. The audience favored the wines from the StephanO vom Eisenberg winery.
This time in Gmunden, the OÖNachrichten is highlighting 22 white Burgundy varieties. The vinophile guests can taste Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Neuburger. We’ll find out who wins with the audience and the sommeliers on Friday on site.
