David Mamet’s much-discussed play “Oleanna” returns and is presented at the “act” theater for 3 unique performances, on March 24-25 and 26 (at 9:15 p.m.), with Filippos Sofianos and Denia Mimerini.

It is a powerful text regarding political correctness that explores the relationship between language and behavior and attempts to penetrate the recesses of power.

Acclaimed actor Filippos Sofianos, who also signs the direction of the project, speaking to “Peloponnisos” newspaper notes:

«It’s a very murky landscape in relation to political correctness, given that it has visited us from only one side. We haven’t seen the other side. This work shows her, which is why I think it’s great. The conversation has never been opened, regarding what is done for a non-existent complaint. The thing becomes very interesting, from the moment the author himself says that wherever the viewer ends up at the end of the show, one thing is certain: That he has made a mistake! That in itself raises questions, it’s a think tank.”

“THE THEATER IS NOT A T-SHIRT”

It is from representations those, which I call “useful theater”. That is, tthe theatre, which doesn’t just entertain you, but which makes us better as people, which expands our minds. This is the mission of the theater. Theater tends to become a consumer product at the level of “like or dislike” something. Theater is not… a t-shirt, it is not a shoe, whether we like it or not. Theater entertains. It takes your soul and takes it for a walk in a space, where it might not go otherwise. Otherwise, it’s not theater, in my opinion. I serve this theater, this is what I fight for. And with this show, that’s what I’m trying to prove! And the experiment has succeeded, judging by the reactions of the audience, following the end of the performance, where groups fight very badly regarding which of the two heroes is right in the end.”
