Indonesian men’s doubles, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, managed to win over the Chinese pair, Huang Di/Liu Yi, at the 2024 Swiss Open.
Playing at St Jakobshalle, Basel, Wednesday (20/3) evening, Bagas/Fikri won two straight games with a score of 21-16 and 21-18 in 42 minutes
Fikri admitted that he was very grateful for the smooth running of the match. He also said that the opponents put up significant resistance.
“Thank God it was easy and smooth, the match was quite tight and they played quite well but thank God we were able to overcome it,” said Fikri in his statement.
By participating in this tournament, Fikri said that the opportunity to qualify for the Paris Olympics was still open.
He also admitted that he would do his best to compete in this tournament.

“The opportunity to go to the Olympics is still open, we both can only try as hard as possible to qualify there,” he said.
“There is always a chance for every pair to enter the final here, as the first seed we must be able to take advantage of this opportunity,” he added.
In another match, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani defeated the Irish pair Joshua Magee/Paul Reynolds. Sabar/Reza won two games with a score of 21-8, 21-19.
Furthermore, in women’s doubles, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi managed to beat Natasja Anthonisen (Denmark) and Alyssa Tirtosentono (Netherlands) with a score of 21-16, 22-20 and 21-18. (Z-8)
