“Alien: Romulus” will hit theaters this summer. Yesterday the first teaser was released online. Also yesterday, “The Hollywood Reporter” published an interview with the film’s director Fede Álvarez, in which he revealed further details of the project.

“Alien: Romulus” was originally commissioned as a film for the Hulu platform, similar to “Predator: Prey”. Unlike that film, which is a stand-alone story in the universe, Álvarez’s film remains closely related to the “Alien” series.
I love all the films in the series. I didn’t want to leave out or ignore any of them,” Álvarez said.
He also revealed what inspired the plot of his film. This deleted scene from Cameron’s “Alien: The Final Showdown” (restored in later editions), in which we see children playing in the corridors of the colony.
Then I thought: Wow, what it would be like to be these children growing up in a colony that needs another 50 years of terraforming – recalls the director. – I remember thinking that if I might ever tell a story in this world, it would be regarding these kids when they were in their twenties.
Álvarez boasts that both Ridley Scott and James Cameron saw his script and shared their comments on it. Their notes were valuable material for him. The creators of both first “Aliens” had already seen the film and were both delighted with itwhich gave Álvarez a sense of self-confidence.
What is the movie “Alien: Romulus” regarding?
The action of the show takes place between the events of “Alien – 8th Passenger of the Nostromo” and “Alien – The Decisive Engagement”.
Romulus in the film’s title is the name of the floating wreck of the Weyland-Yutani corporation’s research station. The heroes are a group of people traveling through space specializing in “recovering” valuable elements of abandoned stations, spaceships and other artifacts. Romulus is a tasty morsel for them. They will realize too late that it is a death trap. This is how the dramatic fight for survival begins…
