National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice

National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice

48 years have passed since March 24, 1976, when the Armed Forces, supported by civilians, carried out a coup d’état that began a military dictatorship government calling itself the “National Reorganization Process” that remained until December 10, 1983.

This period, marked by violence, terror and the violation of rights, marked Argentine history. Reason why this date becomes a commemoration with great symbolic load that challenges us as a society and invites us to know, reflect, analyze and reinforce a request for justice that is still valid. As well as valuing democracy as a fundamental system that allows us to exercise freedom and with an insistent request: Never Again.

Science and Art Murals in the 40 years of Democracy

Within the framework of the call “Science and Art Murals in the 40 years of Democracy” promoted by the Technological Linkage Management (GVT) of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), in the month of November 2023, it was finalized the creation of the allusive mural on an exterior wall of the Administration Building – south entrance – located in the CONICET “Dr. Alberto Cassano” Property, in the city of Santa Fe.

CONICET makes the call in tribute to the renowned American geneticist Mary-Claire Kingwho visited the country in September 2023 and was the promoter of the “grandparents index“, a statistical formula that, based on the genetic material of the individuals involved, precisely establishes the probability of kinship between a grandmother and her grandson or granddaughter. This index was born thanks to the struggle of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, who traveled the world and met with leading scientists in different institutions to find a way to identify grandchildren.

The design and its execution was carried out by the Monumental Painting in Public Spaces chair – third year of the Technical Degree in Painting -, led by Professor Lisandro Pierotti and the Student Assistant Professor Roxana Zapata, from the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Sciences Social Studies of the Autonomous University of Entre Ríos (UADER). The measurements of the intervened space are 3.60 m. -high- by 4.70 m. -wide-, also adding the rainwater collector and receiver that are found in said wall.
