Argentina captain Lionel Messi will miss Albiceleste’s next two friendlies in the United States next week due to a muscle injury, according to the American Soccer League (MLS).
MLS published the list of players selected by their respective selections on Sunday and Messi is not included. The Argentine Football Federation has not yet communicated on the subject.
The 2022 world champions will face El Salvador this Friday in Philadelphia and Costa Rica on Tuesday March 26 in Los Angeles, as part of preparation for the next Copa America which will be held in the United States.
Due to a “slight hamstring injury in his right leg”, the 36-year-old did not participate in the MLS match once morest DC United in Washington (3-1).
Messi had previously missed a match on Inter Miami’s pre-season tour to Hong Kong due to a right leg injury.
For the friendlies once morest El Salvador and Costa Rica, Argentina will also be without Paulo Dybala (AS Roma), who suffers from a muscular problem.
