Vladimir Putin was re-elected for a fifth term, winning a record 87.3% of Russian votes. Despite the obvious fictitiousness of these “elections”, neither the USA nor European countries have declared their intention not to recognize their results (except in the occupied territories of Ukraine), but Putin should not be expected to congratulate them either. However, according to “Word and Deed” estimates, there were more than 30 countries in the world that were not upset by the Russian “elections” and congratulated the dictator on his victory.
Among those who congratulated Vladimir Putin on his re-election are his allies in the war once morest Ukraine – Belarus, Iran and North Korea.
Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory telegram to Putin, and Oleksandr Lukashenko called him personally. In the conversation, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus called Putin’s victory “convincing” and the results “stunning.” The President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi also called to congratulate.
One of the first, as reported in the Kremlin, was the president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro (whose legitimacy is also in doubt) to congratulate Putin. He called the president of the Russian Federation an “elder brother” and said that his victory would help “build a multipolar world.”
Another friend of Putin – Syrian President Bashar Assad – said that the re-election “confirms the high confidence of the Russian people in the president, national policy and strategic visions.”
From China, Putin was first greeted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then by Xi Jinping himself. In a statement, he expressed hope that “Russia will be able to achieve even greater success in the development and construction of the state.”
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, called Putin not only to congratulate him on his victory in the “elections”, but also to remind him of his readiness to “play any favorable role in returning to the negotiating table regarding Ukraine” (however, this thesis is not mentioned in the Kremlin’s message). .
The leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan also sent congratulations on the victory. Today it became known that the congratulatory message was sent by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, although his relations with Russia have been quite strained lately.
In addition, the leaders of Bahrain, India, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, and Myanmar congratulated Putin from Asia.
There were many greetings from the leaders of African countries – Algeria, Burkina Faso, Congo, Libya, Mali, Niger, Chad, CAR, Egypt.
The leaders of Bolivia, Honduras, Cuba and Nicaragua also considered it necessary to congratulate Putin.
It will be recalled that “Word and Deed” collected the reaction of European countries to the “elections” in Russia.
The European Union generally criticized the presidential “elections” in the Russian Federation. The EU also condemned the illegal holding of “elections” in the occupied territories of Ukraine: their results will not be recognized, and the organizers will face the consequences.
