The Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC) presented its new strategic plan for the period 2024-2028 to market players on March 20.
The result of collaborative work involving the Authority’s internal resources and the capital market ecosystem to be as close as possible to its expectations and needs, the AMMC’s new strategic plan is a continuation of the progress recorded during the implementation of the Authority’s two previous plans. “Its vision is an efficient and innovative capital market, serving the development of savings and the financing of the economy,” indicates the AMMC press release.
Driven by this vision, the AMMC’s new strategic plan is based on four major thematic pillars and 1 transversal pillar broken down into several priority actions.
Financial education of savers and market participants
Over the period 2024-2028, the Authority will continue its efforts to strengthen the efficiency and accessibility of the market through broadening the investor base, diversifying the range of financial instruments and creating new markets. A balanced approach, adapted to financial innovation and sustainability issues will also be favored. The AMMC will also reaffirm its commitment to promoting the financial education of savers and market players and particular attention will be paid to the modernization of the supervisory system, the primary objective of which remains the protection of savings invested in instruments. financial.
Finally, the AMMC will continue its efforts to improve its organizational performance, in particular through the development of its employees and the construction of a strong corporate culture.
Moroccan Capital Market Authority
The AMMC is the regulatory authority of the Moroccan capital market. The Institution’s missions are to ensure the protection of savings invested in financial instruments and the proper functioning and transparency of the capital market in Morocco.
A member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) since 1996, the AMMC signed, in 2007, the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding/MMOU, making Morocco the 44th signatory country and the 3rd African country. Since February 2020, the Authority has also chaired the Africa Middle East Regional Committee (AMERC).
