The Prime Minister does not promise money, but the railway is moving forward

Rein Riisalu, who introduced the Haapsalu railway project in Palivere, also does it in Taebla and Haapsalu. Yesterday, he told the same story to the support group of the Haapsalu railway in the Riigikogu. Things are complicated with the money needed for construction, but the projects are ready and most of the building permits have already been issued. Photo: Urmas Lauri

On Monday followingnoon, Rein Riisalu, director of the railway program of Läänemaa, presented the current status of the Haapsalu railway restoration project and also painted pictures of the future at the meeting of the regional council of Riisalu Palivere.

“I hope that in this sense it will be introduced that there is a desire to build a railway,” said Risto Roomet, chairman of Palivere sub-district council, as an introduction to the discussion.

The fact that the day before, on Sunday, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas wrote on Xi (formerly known as Twitter) that the plan to build the Haapsalu railway is not in force was the impetus for Roomet’s move. Prime Minister Kallas is in the same boat as Sander Salmu, Deputy Chancellor for Mobility of the Climate Ministry.
